Fees are £45 per session for face-to-face counselling. In Edinburgh, sessions run for 50 minutes; at Cockenzie, the sessions are slightly longer at 60 minutes.
Telephone counselling sessions last for 60 minutes and cost £40 per session. The sessions normally take place at the same time each week.
Finding the right counsellor is crucial. Therefore, I offer two options for our first meeting. You can choose either to have a free, 30-minute call with me or pay a reduced rate of £20 on a full 60-minute session (either telephone or face-to-face). Part of the objective of that meeting is for us both to assess whether my way of working will suit you.
Fees for face-to-face sessions are payable at the end of each session either by cash or cheque. Fees for telephone counselling are payable in advance via electronic transfer (details available on request).
If we have agreed to a telephone counselling session, you ‘attend’ it by calling me on the dedicated counselling landline number at the agreed time. It works best if we both use landlines, however where this is not possible, you may use a mobile. It is important that you phone from somewhere private, that you find comfortable and where you are unlikely to be interrupted.
The counselling landline number is an ’03’ number. Calls to this number are guaranteed to cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and should count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls. These rules apply to calls from any type of line including mobile, BT, other fixed line or payphone. For more information, see Ofcom’s page “What are 03 numbers?“
Number of Sessions
I offer both long and short term (minimum of six sessions) therapy. During the initial session we can discuss what you would like to gain from counselling and consider how many sessions you would like to commit to. We can revisit this at regular intervals throughout your therapy.
If you need to cancel a session, it really helps if you can give me as much notice as possible. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice the full fee is payable.
Face-to-face counselling sessions are available both in Edinburgh and Cockenzie, East Lothian.
Sessions in Cockenzie are held in a dedicated suite at the Cockenzie Business Centre on the following days: Tuesday daytime and evening, Wednesday evening and Thursday daytime.
A free car park and free on-street parking is available.
If travelling from Edinburgh, there are regular bus services: Lothian Buses 26 and First Bus 129.
I also counsel face-to-face on Wednesday from the Bruntsfield Chiropractic Clinic, 43 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh, EH10 4HJ.
